Yu Lan Festival - Chiu Chow Tradition (2021)
The Yu Lan Sheng Hui is called the Yu Lan Bon Festival in Buddhism, the Zhongyuan Festival in Taoism, and the Ghost Festival or July and a half in the folk. The meaning of filial piety and good deeds. According to literature records, the earliest founder of the Yu Lan Bon Festival was Emperor Liang Wu of the Southern Dynasty who believed in Buddhism. After that, the Yu Lan Bon Festival became popular among the people, and gradually changed from offering monks to ghosts, with the purpose of saving the dead.
